Responsibilities:
• Analysis and advice to civil and structural engineers for effective construction and planning methods following examination of soil and rock formations; • Collection of soil and rock samples for analysis to determine methods of construction on projects; • Interpreting and drafting construction specifications, including drawings, plans, methods of construction and procedural methods; • Examining and preparing preliminary sketches, working drawings and specifications; • Preparing, editing and revising plans, maps, charts and drawings; • Testing of piling and shoring structures including Foundation Piles, Shoring Piles, Contiguous Piles, Anchors, Capping Beams, Whalers and Shotcrete Walls; • Conducting construction site inspections, including collection of soil and rock samples and undertaking quality assessments; • Analysing architectural and engineering drawings and specifications to estimate total costs and preparing detailed cost plans and estimates as means of assisting in budgetary control; • Monitoring changes to construction designs, determining their effects on cost estimates and measuring, valuing and negotiating variations to designs; • Detailing design for earthworks; • Conducting quality assurance, WHS and Environmental compliance; • Working with construction safety teams to ensure safe work site; • Ensuring quality assurance procedures are rigorously followed on company work sites, including oversight of site staff in following company policy and processes.
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering; - Demonstrated 3 years’ experience as a geotechnical engineering; - Competency in field testing of soil and aggregate samples; - Excellent communication – both written and verbal; - Strong understanding of workplace WHS procedures; - Satisfactory experience with quality assurance procedures and policy compliance.
