Financial Accountant - Graduate
Our client is building a world-class business focused on breeding, cultivating, manufacturing and supplying medicinal cannabis for sale and use within Australia and for approved overseas export markets. The company has established research and cultivation facilities in Melbourne and is developing a state-of-the-art cultivation and manufacturing facility near Mildura, Victoria. Now they are hiring a full time graduate financial accountant.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, the Financial Accountant is responsible for month end accounting functions, weekly cashflow forecasting, accounts payable and receivable, processing and overseeing stock management and acting as a back-up for payroll processing. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Act as operational co-owner of the Balance Sheet, ensuring all relevant documentation, risk and opportunities are raised with the business owners and management;
Responsible for month end accounting functions and the month end process and delivery of accurate month-end reporting, identifying opportunities for improvement;
Responsible for preparing the weekly cashflow forecast ensuring all inflows/outflows are categorised correctly;
Assist in the preparation of statutory returns (BAS, FBT, IAS and other taxation obligations), including all reconciliations of accounts, in an accurate and timely manner to ensure lodgement deadlines are met;
Prepare all other statutory obligations as and when required (i.e. Australian Bureau of Statistics surveys);
Responsible for weekly inventory reconciliations and adjustments;
Responsible for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions; including overall management of the debtor's ledger, including enforcement of credit control procedures, communication of ageing debts and related risks with all necessary stakeholders;
Daily reconciliation of the primary bank accounts for the organisation and monthly weekly reconciliation all secondary accounts;
Update of weekly cashflow to ensure all receipts are recognised and categorised;
Responsible for the reconciliation of company credit cards;
Assist in the preparation of year-end annual financial statements;
Assist external auditors in the half year and year end audit process ;
Assist the Senior Finance Manager in the forecast and budget process;
Act as a back up to the Senior Payroll and Finance Officer to prepare payroll as directed;
Ad hoc projects as directed by the Senior Finance Manager and CFO.
Person Specification
Qualifications / Licences
Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) qualified or working towards your qualification.
Experience
Experience in a Financial Accountant role or similar, auditing experience preferable.
Sage experience is preferred.
Inventory management essential.
