Responsibilities:
Participate in client site visit meetings to understand current and future innovation-based projects for R&D Tax purposes. Travel across Australia to gain firsthand knowledge of our client’s operations.
Liaise with client’s financial staff to request, collate and assess key financial information, including profit and loss statement, balance sheet, fixed assets register, remuneration information and other relevant costing information
Analyse operating costs, organisations' income and expenditure, tax treatment of the expenditure incurred (whether it has been expensed or capitalised for accounting/tax purposes)
Apply legal, tax accounting, cost accounting and management accounting concepts in order to identify and maximise the eligible R&D expenditure incurred by clients
Prepare and provide the R&D Tax Incentive Schedule, to be incorporated as part of the Company’s Income Tax Return. Provide assurance about the accuracy of information contained in the Tax Incentive Schedule and their compliance with the relevant tax legislations
Assist in handling queries requested by ATO regarding the eligibility of the notional deductions claimed for the R&D tax purposes
Analyse and advise taxation position for clients in terms of R&D tax impact in various scenarios; support clients with their R&D and innovation processes
Provide data analytics support to assess trends in information related to eligible activities for R&D tax purposes
Undertake quantitative & qualitative analysis relevant to analyse complex project information to assess eligibility for government support
Draft project descriptions and grant applications to seek government support for clients
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending regular in-house training sessions in order to maintain relevance and accuracy of the process, keep up with tax policies, regulation and legislation changes and updates
Qualifications, education, experience, and abilities required:
An undergraduate and/or postgraduate qualification in areas such as:
Accounting, Commerce, Economics, and/or Law.
Has commenced CA/CPA study modules or equivalent post graduate studies
Two to four years plus experience in R&D Tax area
