We offer the full spectrum of building services disciplines (mechanical, electrical, fire protection, hydraulic, vertical transportation, environmentally sustainable design and specialist lighting) across all sectors (residential, commercial, education, industrial, hotel, retail, etc.).
Responsibilities:
Liaise with architects, clients, consultants and engineering colleagues to understand services requirements and designs.
Develop a detailed understanding of the physical form of each installation.
Create accurate detailed designs in accordance with relevant regulations, including building services systems for electrical substations and main switchboard (MSB) rooms.
Calculate the electrical maximum demand of a building and design electrical infrastructure including distribution boards, circuit breaker ratings, building monitoring and control systems, and protective equipment.
Produce specifications to complement services drawings.
Identify, formulate and produce effective solutions to emerging problems.
Develop diagrams, schematics and layouts.
Alter and modify design to meet requirements and to eliminate malfunctions.
Evaluate final design’s overall performance, reliability and safety.
Liaise with authorities and suppliers.
Identify potential operational issues within electrical infrastructure and redesign systems to improve functionality.
Coordinate layouts with other services and building elements.
Documentation management, cleaning architectural backgrounds and maintaining documentation quality.
Interpret relevant Australian standards and Building Code of Australia, ensuring knowledge of these is comprehensively maintained.
Maintain knowledge and awareness of emerging technologies.
Ensure final designs comply with regulations and quality standards.
Review updated external documentation and interpret the impact on services.
Main task & duties:
The Electrical Design Engineer works to develop building services systems into technical plans and specifications. Tasks include gathering and understanding information and other technical documentation, calculating loading and system requirements and producing drawings and specifications. Ultimately, they help build functional, coordinated and well-designed building services that meet our clients’ needs and align with all relevant codes and standards.
Work experience required:
Hands-on experience with computer-aided design (CAD) and Revit software for various sectors of the construction industry (residential, commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, etc.), and familiarity with construction processes.
Qualifications/skills required:
Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent.
Desire and motivation to undertake drafting and engineering work activities.
Proficiency in relevant software including:
Microsoft Office suite.
AutoCAD.
Revit MEP.
Bluebeam.
Other discipline-specific software packages.
Knowledge of building codes and relevant standards.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to liaise positively with key stakeholders.
Excellent time management and teamwork skills.
Creativity and analytical skills.
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Ability to appreciate deliverable priorities, meet deadlines and work under pressure.
