In this role, you will
Design mechanical, structural and electromechanical products and systems in conjunction with customer specifications
Develop technical documentation relating to specific products including manufacturing processes, testing procedures, operational manuals and methods of installation
Prove the ability to effectively liaise with customers and develop effective working relationships the extend beyond the term of the project
Evaluate mechanical and electromechanical systems and products by designing and conducting research and applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and materials to product designs
Develop mechanical and electromechanical products by studying customer requirements; researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials; and soliciting observations from operators
Develop manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment and structures for fabricating, building, assembling, and installing components
Assure system and product quality by evaluating finished-product against design; and confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes
Prepare production drawing sets ensuring appropriate information is present
Liaise with customers and suppliers to provide technical information in response to customer requests and Supplier technical clarifications
Maintain product and company reputation by complying with applicable Australian standards
Produce detailed bill of materials for procurement and manufacturing schedules
Essential skills & experience
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent qualification
Proven experience in mechanical or structural design, and 3D CAD modeling ideally in the mining industry, using inventor, AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
Sound knowledge of Mechanical manufacturing principles including sheet metal fabrication Laser cutting, welding, Large bolted structures and surface treatments
Demonstrable experience in establishing and maintaining Australian construction and manufacturing standards and apply to bespoke designs
Strong problem solving skills with the ability to take loosely defined requirements and designs from customers and gather the necessary information to ensure designs are precise, and are in compliance with customer requirements and the necessary standards
Proficient in implementing structured libraries of drawings and maintaining strict version control and document listings AutoCAD Vault proficiency highly desirable
Understanding of procurement principles
Must be a self-starter, highly motivated and capable of carrying out the role with minimal supervision
Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Experience in electrical, civil/structural and/or telecommunications drafting
Structural Engineering understanding and ability to performs structural assessments and calculation documents
Understanding of civil principles
Experience in technical document writing
Experience in project cost estimation
