The Role:
We are rapidly growing and now require a commercially minded Mechanical Engineer to join our Support team. Working with the team, you will participate in the entire life cycle of system delivery including design, configuration, commissioning, testing, training, and ongoing support. This will include tasks such as:
· Performing technical engineering analysis for clients and preparing report documentation
· Designing systems for ports as per PIANC guidelines and applying professional judgement to solve problems and reach solutions
· Planning for configuration and testing of systems as well as directing maintenance using survey data
· Oversee the installation of client systems while ensuring that it goes as per plan
· Organising procurement and delivery of Metocean equipment such as tide gauges and wave buoys as per port specifications, and providing installation support to the port authorities
· Establish quality control standards using QARTOD principles during commissioning of new systems
· Optimizing port throughput using GIS software to remove supply chain bottlenecks
· Collect and inspect data on a regular basis using QARTOD principles, and flag systems where maintenance of equipment is required
· Working collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team to deliver project objectives within allocated timeframes
· Create and maintain internal documentation while adhering to ISO policies
· Attend regular meetings to develop client relationships
The position is based in our Abbotsford head office; however, travel will be required to visit our clients on site, restrictions permitting.
What you will need to be successful in this role:
You will be working with both internal and external stakeholders so the ability to communicate well and build rapport with clients is essential, as are the following:
· 2 years relevant work experience in a similar role
· Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or similar. A Master’s qualification in a similar area will be highly regarded.
· Analytical and problem-solving skills
· General computer skills
· Ability to work as part of a team as well as without supervision
· Ability to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines
