Responsibilities:
Create and prepare all pastry items as required by the business
Prepare, clean and organize ingredients for use in the kitchen
Come up with recipe ideas from scratch
Participate within the planning of the menu for the business
Plan the menu requirements for all baked goods
Maintain up to date knowledge about pastry arts and ingredients
Maintain quality control of all ingredient requirements
Monitoring safety and health regulation standards
Ensuring an economical performance for the kitchen operations
Skills:
Must be a chef fine tuning the art of preparing and making a variety of meals, pastries and baked goods
Must be able to work in fast paced environment maintaining a very high-level quality output every time
Able to work within a small collaborate team environment
Must be creative and experimental with new recipes
Must work under pressure but maintain calm and productive
Must be able to create dishes of many genres
Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently
Must be punctual, reliable, organised, friendly and adhere to all requirements of their position
Must attend work in a clean and presentable manner.
Must ensure that the Victorian Government Food Safety Act 1984 is adhered to at all times.
Must be respectful and present great customers service to all stakeholders of the business (owners, other staff, customers, suppliers etc) at all times.
Experience
Proven experience working as a chef in a fast-paced kitchen environment
Able to follow recipes and instructions accurately
Good knowledge of pastry arts and ingredients
Confident culinary techniques and skills
Good sense of planning and preparation for the day ahead
Diligent and meticulous in making and receiving orders
Strong organisational and time management skills
Punctual and discipline to ensure optimal work performance
Physically able to stand for long hours
Qualifications:
Certificate III, IV or Diploma in Commercial Cookery
Certificate III, IV or Diploma in Patisserie
Certificate in food safety and hygiene practices
