Key duties
Actively participate in Audit and Assurance assignments, either individually or as part of a team
Complete allocated sections of audit assignments and other assigned work for subsequent senior review
Demonstrate initiative and sound judgement for productive use of time on assignments and completion in line with time and budgetary requirements.
Depending on the level of experience of the successful candidate, responsibilities may also include:
Undertake a range of duties responsible for planning and completing audit assignments and other consulting engagements for senior manager or partner review
Liaise with clients, carrying out all aspects of an audit including planning, fieldwork, completion and preparing financial statements
Supervise and mentor junior staff leading the way for future career progression
Internal audits, trust account audits, inspections and the collection and analysis of data to detect deficient controls and systems or non-compliance with laws, regulations and management policies.
Work may also be assigned from time to time within the firm commensurate with the level and skills of the employee including to support the Business Services, Consulting and Tax teams.
Our ideal candidate will have 2-4 years’ relevant experience in public practice, will be proactive in their own professional development, staying up-to-date with changes to audit procedures, learning and applying new procedures as appropriate.
You will have excellent interpersonal skills with a positive, confident and flexible approach to all aspects of your work and also meet the following requirements:
A good knowledge and understanding of Australian financial reporting requirements
Excellent English written and verbal communication skills to liaise clearly with clients and colleagues
Ability to manage own workloads efficiently and collaborate with other staff members within a busy team environment including supporting less experienced team members
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills
Experienced in the use of accounting software e.g. Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks; and
Be commercially minded.
