Major responsibilities
As a Mechanical Engineer – Marine Applications, you will provide technical and commercial support to the front-line team globally, work with the sales and engineering teams, where required, to develop competitive offerings in consideration of the following:
Compliance with customer project specifications, relevant industry standards guidelines.
Opportunity to maximise return on sales.
Clearly define the scope of work both externally and internally to the business.
Establish accurate estimates of costs in line with the contractual obligations of the project.
Managing existing estimating tools and development of new tools where appropriate.
You will provide project documentation packs to assist with the pre-award sales support, where required, ensure technical and commercial qualification schedules are established with clear offer and acceptance, register enquiries using company established systems and tools and maintain the integrity of the information in the system, and attend technical meetings with customers or marketing events as needed locally and overseas.
As a Mechanical Engineer – Marine Applications, you will assist the Sales Team with consolidation of commercial and technical documentation and handover to the operations teams. You will also support new product innovation with the Technology Team where required to ensure product portfolios are aligned with customer expectations and market opportunities. Utilize your know-how to assist with supply chain and product/component cost-down initiatives.
We would like to see in the ideal Candidate
Tertiary education within Mechanical Engineering or Marine background is preferred.
8 years industry experience, preferably within the ports and marine industry.
Ideal background could be – shore side technical operations, mooring operations & analysis, risk management, vessel side operations, piloting.
An ability to understand and demonstrate mechanical and structural design principles.
Solid understanding of hydrodynamics, vessel motions at berth and mooring operations.
Experience working with specifications, standards, engineering drawings and documents.
Experience in the interpretation of mooring analysis reports and results.
Highly developed interpersonal and presentational skills with the ability to communicate clearly, concisely and effectively with both external clients and internal resources.
Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Demonstrate a methodical approach to work and strong organizational skills, being able to independently prioritize tasks, work under time pressure and resolve conflicting requirements.
Basic computer literacy, proficient in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
English fluency mandatory. Other languages an advantage.
Proficiency with CFD/FEA simulation software and/or 3D CAD software an advantage.
