Horticulture Grower - Fruiting and Ornamental Trees
Location This position is full-time and will be based at Nathalia, Victoria.
Roles & Responsibilities:
• Producing bare rooted and advanced stock • Managing growing duties, ground preparation, seeding, irrigation scheduling, spraying and other associated activities.
• Create and implement plant nutrition program
• Solving day–to-day problems and reporting irregularities (defects, diseases) • Responsible for the stock management and procurement farm inputs e.g. chemicals, fertilisers and small equipment
• Maintaining records on the activities performed such as: dates of sowing, pest and diseases control
• Supervising field rotations and the planning of sowing, planting and harvesting programs
• Regularly inspect each crop to evaluate and report on growth, health and development of the crop and provide weekly production reports to the Director.
• Identification of diseases, pests and weeds in the crops and surrounding growing environment. Make appropriate and informed decisions on control. To be successful in this role, you will possess the following:
• Experience in fruiting and ornamental tree production
• A sound knowledge of the safe operation and maintenance of various farming equipment • Have horticultural knowledge with practical experience
• Highly energetic and proactive
• Ability to work in all weather conditions • Possess troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• White Card
• Drivers Licence • Other machinery licences advantageous
• Ability to work independently
