Training Programs:
(courses and training materials are available during with the internship program. You are expected to complete and pass homework and exams)
• Stage 1 - tax return basics for individual
o Income Tax basics including investment properties
o GST, BAS, IAS & PAYG
o Capital Gains Tax
o Business tax for sole traders and partnerships
• Stage 2 - tax return basics for business
o company tax basics
o SME concessions
o Preparation of financial statements
• Accounting practice administration
• Use of professional software such as HandiTax, XERO, MYOB and Excel
Stage 2 is only available for candidates who successfully passed stage 1 exam with an 80% result or higher.
Exposure areas:
(You should have basic knowledge of the tax from tertiary studies or experience)
• Preparing tax statements, financial statements and BAS statements at required intervals
• Creating and returning statements and documents to clients by set deadlines
• Liaising with clients, the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and other regulatory bodies when required
• Preparing income tax returns and activity statements
• Engaging regularly with clients and maintaining strong relationships
• Assisting managing emails and correspondence from clients
• Regularly reviewing systems and making updates and improvements where necessary
• Identifying areas where clients and businesses can reduce tax, make claims and increase profit
• Possessing strong knowledge of tax law and statutory regulations
• Understanding financial landscape and market trends
• Using professional accounting software and advanced Excel skills
