Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for all client, quoting and tendering aspects with the aim of maintaining and/or growing market share across North Queensland;
You're ability to understand, decipher and provide best for project outcomes is essential;
In reviewing the supplied documentation such as specifications and drawings, a thorough understanding of best practice and the way will be essential to ensure we comply with all quality, safety, environmental and sustainability requirements;
On occasions you will be required to attend tender meetings, site visits and our various depots to maintain connectivity between operations and the estimating department;
For each proposal, you will be required to seek out subcontractor/supply pricing whilst collating all items and direct cost items in our estimating program - Benchmark;
Collating and compiling tender support information; and
Assisting with the handover of successful quotes or tenders to operational staff.
About You:
Strong attention to detail;
Excellent communication and presentation skills both written and orally;
An ability to create/maintain a good rapport with clients, subcontractors and suppliers across the industry;
Demonstrated experience, or ability to learn, pricing civil infrastructure, projects from first principles; or a proven track record delivering projects on site with ambitions to transition into a full-time Estimator role;
Relevant Engineering qualifications or high level experience in the civil construction field, particularly asphalt and bituminous surfacing, is desired but not mandated;
Detailed knowledge of estimating software such as Benchmark or equivalent estimating packages will be highly regarded;
Good computer skills with adaptability or experience in programming software and other Microsoft programs.
Other skills and abilities that would be viewed favourably:
Technical knowledge and understanding and/or previous experience and knowledge of asphalt and bituminous surfacing (spray seal); and
Willingness to travel (incidental) as necessary around Queensland.
